Workout Essential Oils
We don’t always feel like sticking to our workout programs. Many are the times our bodies just don’t want to cooperate, so, before skipping another leg-day, give essential oils a try.
There are several ways of maxing out the benefits of essential oils before, during and after a workout. You could use one based on what you want to gain out of the aromatherapy or you could use all of them accordingly.
BEFORE:
Peppermint Oil
Peppermint Essential Oil is a wake me up oil. It will lift up your energy for the morning workout and boost your mood. It comes highly recommended for cycling since it Supports healthy breathing during workout.
Uses: Inhale the oil and rub it in your wrist before workout.
Diffuse it during cardio exercises.
Ylang-Ylang
Ylang-Ylang Essential Oil keeps your heart strong and supported throughout a workout. It improves circulation and reduces blood pressure by supporting the cardiovascular system.
Uses: Mix it with a carrier oil (any oil) then apply it on your skin before workout.
AFTER:
Eucalyptus Oil
Eucalyptus Essential Oil is a soothing oil. It has the ability to support good moods and positive energy for a prolonged period of time. This makes it very effective for recovering from an intense workout.
Uses: Rib it on your chest and neck and let your skin absorb it.
Inhale it directly from the bottle or through steam.
Put a drop or two of the oil on a damp hand towel and store in the freezer. Take it out after your workout, rub the towel over your neck, arms and chest for a cooling reward.
Lavender Oil
Lavender Essential Oil relaxes muscles which is helpful in recovery after a workout.
Uses: Draw a warm bath, add a few drops of the oils and soak in it.
Diffuse it while you cool down from the workout.
