Setting Up a Home Office – The 2020 Way
The year 2020 has been the year of priority. We have prioritized health over wealth, safety over hangouts and home offices over commercial ones. Taking that most of us used to leave work in the office, we don’t really have a suitable space dedicated to work at home. Therefore, our backaches and stressful online meetings are making the need for an office more important than most. The good thing is, you do not need four walls, a door and an ‘open’ sign to call your space an office.
Here are ways of getting a home office, the 2020 way.
Visible Background
Needless to say, a perfect background for your online meeting might just be the only thing you need to work on on your quest for professionalism at home. A laptop camera can cover to as little as a meter of your background wall (depending on how close you are). Declutter that background, make it as simple and organized as possible so that it does not take the attention away from you.
Next step is to make it as aesthetically pleasing as possible.
Option 1: Hang a huge mirror on the wall, place a console
table below it and decorate it with appropriate objects or books.
Option 2: Hang a piece of art on the wall, place an indoor
plant beneath it to give you a sense of rejuvenation. Ensure the colors complement
each other.
Option 3: Create an art or photo gallery on the wall. Ensure
that the items displayed are not personal like, wedding photos. The colors in
the art or photos should be complementary like black and white or share the
same shade of dominant hue.
Option 4: Create a bookshelf on the wall. Be careful not to
make it visually exhausting. Mix books with objects, organizing the
books in order of color and prioritizing negative space.
Option 5: Treat the wall with a beautiful wallpaper, hang a
decorative clock and place a small planter on a floating shelve beside it.
