Throw pillow’s charm
Of all available accessories, throw pillows have been normalized to the point of no regard. What we tend to forget is that they have as much power in influencing emotions as the choice of color schemes in our rooms.
Here are four reasons why you should pay more attention to your throw pillows:
- Evoke luxury and wealth
Visualize a 5-star hotel room and a 2-star hotel room, what difference do you see on the beds? I bet that the former has four standard size pillows and quite a number of throw pillows while the latter only has standard sized pillows and no throw pillows on it. How does that make you feel?
On which bed would you feel like royalty?
Throw pillows create a façade of wealth. It shows that you had some money to spend on luxury and you take pride in it.
- Comfort
Even without leaning on the throw pillows, a seat with more throw pillows seems more comfortable than that with fewer or none. Just by looking at our seats with pillows on them, our minds take that up and automatically, a sense of calmness and relaxation overwhelms us. Just don’t put too many throw pillows.

Bay windows tend to go unutilized. In some houses, they are used as plant pot holders and in others, they are not used at all. The question is, how do you encourage people to chill at the bay window with a good book and rays of the setting sun shinning on their faces? It is simple, layer throw pillows. Immediately someone sees the pillows, they see extra sitting space with a different experience as that of a normal couch.

When decorating your space and changing the color pallets, do not forget how useful throw pillows can be. You see that that navy blue you painted on your wall behind the couch, that daring color everyone told you wouldn’t work? Pick out throw pillows of one or two complementary colors, place them neatly where they can all see and prove them wrong.
